Tell us about your business, and what makes it special to you?
I founded a natural baby cosmetic brand and we're selling the products online, the shop is based in Germany but we offer shipping to many other countries. Baby skin is very thin and sensitive. Sophie's Universe premium baby care products make you feel more secure about applying them when caring for your baby. They are vegan and contain certified natural raw materials and raw materials from certified organic cultivation. They smell like pure wellness and are the eye-catcher of your bathroom. Our Baby Organics have been dermatologist tested and rated "very good".
Tell us about the defining moment that propelled you to start your business, or follow your dreams.
Since the beginning of my professional career, I've worked in the cosmetics industry. My first job as a cosmetician was in a studio specializing in natural cosmetics. Later, I worked as a spa director for many years and finally in India, I got back in touch with natural ingredients during Ayurvedic teaching. Then I went on to the Middle East, first to Abu Dhabi and then to Dubai. In 2014, our daughter Sophie was born. Sadly, 5 weeks after birth, she died of a heart defect. As a family, we spent a lot of time at the children's heart station in the UKE Hamburg. After this difficult time, we quickly realized that every minute spent with your child is precious and valuable. As parents, we wish only the best for our child. Sophie gave us the inspiration for a beautiful, pure and valuable product.
What problem is your business solving? Why is this personal to you?
On some days it is difficult for me to work from home alone and to find the necessary discipline. I always enjoyed working in a team and getting inspiration from colleagues. The biggest challenge was the isolation with the children during Covid 19. At home I didn't find a quiet minute, but I decided to continue launching my business. We got off to a successful start, but I'm now really looking forward to spending more time in my business and seeing it grow.
Tell us how you stay inspired as an entrepreneur.
It helps me the most to talk to other entrepreneurs and to exchange experiences. My children also motivate me a lot, I want to build something sustainable for them and show my two girls that as a woman they have the opportunity to achieve everything they want. You have to believe in your dreams and work hard for them.
Tell us about a defining career milestone or job that impacted your personal trajectory.
I have spent my entire professional career in the wellness industry. I got to know a lot of products and like-minded colleagues and it was always clear to me never to leave the industry. All of my jobs have shaped and inspired me.
Tell us about a woman who inspired you.
My previous boss and now my closest friend. She approaches problems in a completely different way, looks at them from a different perspective, helps me to see more clearly and supports me with creative ideas.
Do you feel you've mastered work/life balance? What could be improved or what would you like to work on?
Certainly not, but I am good at getting it under control and planning my time better. I love going to yoga classes, but haven't done it for far too long, just didn't take the time to do it. Hopefully that will change soon, last week I went to a studio and I was very happy after my first lesson.
How do you release and unwind?
Yoga, mediation and dinner dates with my husband.
What's the next big step for your business?
I have ideas for other products and would like to have 2 of them produced this year.
Is there a quote/mantra that guides you?
"Patience is the key to everything."
